Set on a rural block in Cambridge, this project was about delivering high-performance living on a modest budget. The design focused on efficiency, comfort, and independence, resulting in a fully off-grid home that proves sustainability doesn’t have to come at the expense of style.
The home is powered entirely by solar energy, with carefully integrated systems for water collection and energy storage, giving the clients freedom from external utilities. Orientation and detailing were refined to maximise natural light, reduce heat loss, and create a healthy, comfortable interior year-round.
Despite the financial constraints, smart design choices and disciplined execution allowed us to achieve a home that is not only cost-effective but also future-focused. The result is a light-filled, durable space that embodies the Jamieson Edwards commitment to performance, craftsmanship, and building science.
The Cambridge project came with the significant challenge of working to a super tight budget while still delivering a high-performance, off-grid home. Every decision, from materials and detailing to solar and water systems, had to balance cost, durability, and efficiency. With no room for error or waste, the team approached the build with precision and discipline, proving that sustainable, comfortable living can be achieved even within strict financial constraints.
