Project Frederick involved a major internal renovation of a century-old home in West Hobart to better suit the current needs of the family. Through clever redesign, the internal footprint was expanded by converting an external store room, allowing for a larger bathroom and more open social zones, while reconfiguring the living, dining, and kitchen areas to improve flow and functionality. The result is a seamless meld of historic charm and modern living.
Adapting a 100-year-old structure posed several challenges. Preserving the home’s heritage character while updating its internal layout required precision and sensitivity. Ensuring that new materials and finishes tied in sympathetically with the original house while providing modern comfort and durability added complexity to the design and execution.
